Music is not practical and not valuable. Children should not be taught music at school. They should rather learn computing and science. Do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, music is taught by many schools as a subject. Some people thought computing and science are more useful than music. I strongly agree to that. I will discuss three points to support my stance.
Firstly, the view that music is not practical and not valuable is quite right. Playing or learning music can't be a productive activity in our daily life. Music is usually played for personal purpose and competitions. If students are not interested in music, they will not play well. Therefore, learning music in schools is a waste of time to those who do not like music.
Secondly, computing and science are more useful than music. These subjects are more practical and useful. Although some students are not interested in these two subjects, they can still apply it's principle in our daily life to solve problems.
Lastly, school time is limited. Teachers do not have enough time to teach the syllabi. If music is taught in school, other subjects will have less time to teach. It affects the overall curriculum.
To conclude, I would suggest that music should not be a compulsory subject of school because not all students are interested in it and it is not so practical and not valuable as other subjects. So, schools should offer music as a optional subject.
